About the stone
Sunstone
A feldspar with tiny copper or hematite plates that sparkle, an effect called aventurescence. Hardness 6–6.5.
In tradition: Its warm glitter gave it its name; Oregon sunstone is the official gem of the US state of Oregon.

Moonstone
A feldspar with a soft, floating sheen called adularescence. Hardness 6–6.5.
In tradition: Moonstone has long been cherished in India, and ancient Romans believed it was formed from moonlight.
